There are so many custom traits for The Sims 4 that you can find all over the internet so I came to an idea to compile some of the most useful traits that you can find. These traits function almost like every other trait: some give certain benefits for skills, careers etc, some disadvantages and they’ll determine the whims of your Sims.
A trait is a major building block of a Sim's personality. Traits effectively determine a Sim's behaviors, abilities, and wishes. Traits often grant Sims specific abilities or allow Sims to perform specific actions. Sims are usually limited in the number of traits they can have, and certain.
Installing these custom traits is pretty easy. After downloading a .package file trait just place it in the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods folder. Make sure you’ve enabled Mods / CC in your game!
Traits shown below are listed in alphabetical order. We’re not responsible in case these traits get removed or abandoned by their creators!
Make sure you keep track of custom traits on Mod The Sims because you can expect new ones to pop out every now and then.
You can share your own Custom Traits on Sims Community Social and we’ll make sure to add them here!

A Sim demonstrating the 'Genius' trait
- For a general description of traits, see Trait.
- For other examples of traits in The Sims series, see Trait (disambiguation).
Trait is a personality system in The Sims 4, similar to the trait system in The Sims 3. The personality system as a building block of Sims in The Sims 4 is a combination of trait from The Sims 3 and aspiration from The Sims 2. There are four kinds of traits in the base game: personality, bonus, death and reward. Each kind has different ways to earn them.
Learning traitsEdit
- See also: Trait conflict
As Sims socialize with others, they may reveal their traits from certain interactions. For example, asking a Sim's career will reveal if they have the ambitious trait, or flirting with a Sim may reveal the romantic trait. The Observantreward trait allows a Sim to instantly learn the traits of other Sims.
Personality traitsEdit
Adult Sims created in Create a Sim may have up to three traits. Teens created may have up to 2 traits, children may only have 1 trait, and toddlers have 1 personality trait that is different from the other traits. All traits affect a Sim's behavior and emotions, for example, a creative Sim may randomly become inspired, while a Sim that loves outdoors will sink into a low mood if they stay inside too long.
The following lists all traits that appear in the game.
